Sanofi - You're just Flu's type

To help under 65s choose the vaccine that is right for them, we developed a unique awareness campaign showcasing 'flu' as never seen before

The Challenge

When flu season arrives, people tend to accept whatever vaccine their healthcare provider is administering. But Sanofi is a global leader in Flu vaccines, with a high-dose vaccine for over 65s that not only protects this vulnerable population from flu but also from flu-related complications such as heart attack and stroke. We were tasked with finding a simple, compelling way to make over 65s aware of the hidden dangers of flu and nudge them towards asking for the vaccine that's right for their age (not just accepting what's given to them). The solution needed to be globally relatable and easy to implement across markets.

The Smart Thinking

Our solution was to show 'flu' as a sinister, devious (yet funny) invisible character that threatens the lives of people over 65. A copy-led approach tackled low vaccine coverage rates by raising awareness of the risks of flu and boosting vaccination among older adults through a very direct call-to-action.

The voice of flu was brought to life across different channels such as posters, social media posts and digital ads. Each execution was unique, using humorous language backed by data. The campaign was also rolled out internally, to increase flu-vaccine uptake within Sanofi. To do this, we placed motion-sensor speakers in social areas and lifts, with the voice of flu surprising employees and encouraging them to take action.
