As legal briefs go, it was a toughie. Take a well-established blue-chip Edinburgh law firm and completely reinvent their brand look, feel, imagery and marketing approach. But we didn’t shrink from the task.
Instead, for over a year, The Leith Agency worked hand-in-hand with the marketing team at Turcan Connell to create a rebrand to be proud of – from initial brand strategy and brand design guidelines to printed and digital solutions.
Following several meetings and a workshop with stakeholders from across the business, we were able to define and articulate the firm’s purpose and values that helped to inform the new look and feel.
The big insight from the planning was that this was a firm that is all about ‘understanding relationships’. We wanted to find a way to really bring that to life in a very human way in what is traditionally a very dry sector in terms of creative. The solution surprised everybody.
In place of predictable imagery, we have created a series of striking images based on the idea of unexpected interaction, involving people and situations – often using forced perspective techniques. Of course it helped that we had world-class photographer Alex Telfer (and his £100,000 worth of camera gear) on the case.
Sitting comfortably within the new clean and simple design solutions, these hero images – and the thinking behind them – have really helped to transform Turcan Connell’s whole brand look and feel – and really set them apart in the sector.
A year of activity. A whole host of great work. And one very happy client. All in all, success, writ large.
